On Present-Mindedness and Potential

While learning from ones mistakes (i.e. past) and planning (i.e. future) serve practical purposes, either can become debilitating and ruinous if used to facilitate and maintain regret, resentment compulsive expectations, or longing. Past for past's sake and future for future's sake is quite unhealthy and unrealistic, however much of a reality it seems for many.

Just as working in an office environment all day is practical for the procurement of money (thus clothing, food, and shelter), living solely as such would invariably lead to some sort of social constraints, physiological dysfunction, and an eventual marked inefficiency in the overall performance of ones professional and extracurricular tasks. The affect of such behavior permeate modern values, conventions, and social practices; they are symptoms of an idealogical extreme. The point being that there is a purpose to such things, but only up until a certain point of preoccupation.

I musn't obsess over "the past", as it is only a memory trace of some 'present' that has already occurred, be it measured in Planck Time to Supereons or anything in between. The future is an illusory mind projection of a present yet to be revealed. It is important to understand that 'neither exist' but for the preponderance of a person's thought in their favor.

It is enough to be present; entirely appreciative of and invested in what is happening at this moment...now ,this moment...now, this moment...and so on. Always living to make the most of what you are currently faced with is the easiest way to ensure a past without regret or resentment and a fulfilling future. Every present moment will govern the quality of my past and future. The effect of a well cultivated present moment is a pitiless, unashamed, unapologetic past, and an optimistic future, irrespective of what I might encounter in 'any' given moment.

Hope and anticipation are the wanting or waiting for 'that' or to be able to go or be 'there' when presently I have 'this' and am already right 'here'. I can only be 'here and now', to try and force myself to be where I can not is an exercise in futility that would render me exhausted, perpetually disappointed, and ultimately insane. Better to remain entirely open to, fascinated with, and accepting of each moment. It is here that I may co-create, self-determine, share, and find peace.

Make this your life's discipline. Receive each moment just as effortlessly as you release it. With each moment that I willingly let go of I instantaneously prepare myself for the next. With each instance of past/future preoccupation I hinder my developmental progress, and in some cases fuel what seems to be a developmental regression.

This is our individual (d)evolution; where progress is concerned, this is the unraveling of your inhibited potential. It is a self-actualization of sorts. As such, it also promotes a healthier Whole-of-Being, where each individual being may be likened to a seemingly inconsequential, yet infinitely important, cell within some unified Self. What is your function? Only you can discern this. Rest assured, we all have one.

Be present. It is the greatest gift to give...to yourself, others, the planet, and Being.

Be as you choose, Brothers and Sisters...

Albert
